Haven't done a book post in a few weeks so I felt I was due. I'm not reading as fast as I was there for a while so I'm only going through about 3 books every few weeks.
I finished this one recently. Another great Tracey Bateman book and the end of the Drama Girls Series
I picked up her 3rd book but haven't started it yet
I also had to recheck out this one because it was missing a good 20 pages in the 3rd chapter, so starting this one again today.
On the health front. I'm still trying to get used to working out. I've worked out 3 times so far this week and if my kids will stop being crazy while I'm trying to work out I'd really appreciate it. lol I've found it really helps my numbers in the morning if I can get it done within an hour after breakfast. My afternoon and evening numbers are still decent.
I had my cholesterol checked at my last appt and finally got the results from that at the end of last week. It was NOT good! I'm not surrpised either since at that time I'd still been in the getting control stage. I'm not sure how fast cholesterol numbers go down but I'm hoping it's decent by my next appt. Cholesterol was 214 (wants under 200), Triglycerides were 228 (way high, but I think were due to my uncontrolled diabetes...needs to be between 50-150), LDL was 119 (wants under 100 due to the diabetes) My HDL was decent 49 (needs to be between 40-96) So I have some work to do with fat intake as well as carbs. Which is hard since I like eating nuts around this time of year. lol
I'm still drinking water for the most part with an occasional tea or no sugar added hot cocoa. I've bought some soy products from the advice of my doctor, light vanilla soy milk and roasted soynuts for the protein. She wants me getting 25g of soy protein per day. I also noticed on Biggest Loser last night they had talked about Fiber One original cereal with 14g of fiber per 1/2 cup, so I'm definitely going to try that and see how it does with my blood sugars in the morning. I need something that isn't going to spike it up like crazy. Weight loss wise I'm back down to what I was before my diabetes was controlled, it's going to be rough with me on meds to lose it like I want to but I'll get down this 35lbs by the end of the year! That is my goal for the year and I'm going to do what I must to get there!
Thanks for your support!!
It's a good thing I'm friends with my designers. I've been slacking on pages. I have been doing a little bit here and there for Christmas gifts but I can't post since some of the family reads my blog. I've done calendars, magnet calendars, our Christmas cards of course and an album for my mom and MIL. Stay tuned the day after Christmas to see pictures of what I've been working on!
Miss Mint has calendar grids & QP calendars coming out in the next few days, I'm thinking about making one of her cd calendars for my desk and I can get it done in time maybe the grandparents. Matt and I have been discussing buying our own binding machine for the business and myself for around this time of year so I can make the calendars. I bought them from Artscow.com this year and was not impressed! I did like how they let me use my own custom calendar grid image but the shipping and customer service stinks! It took them 2 weeks to send my calendars and another 2 weeks to get them and then when I received it I was missing one. So they replied yesterday saying they are resending and should be here in 8-12 days. I'm hoping it will be here in time for Christmas.
Ok, I'm done complaining about Artscow. lol
On the health front...we had pizza last night, healthy right ;) I went a little overboard and should have had a salad with it to cut back. Hopefully it won't hurt me to much. This morning I'm down another pound but I'm not going to document it and wait until Friday which will be my actual weigh in day. I have a treadmill that was a cheap hand me down from a relative and it makes an annoying sounds when I get above 3 mph so yesterday when I tried the treadmill for 10 mins before the sound started driving me crazy I decided to just do my own workout infront of the while watching a movie. Now I'm on the lookout for some fun workout videos that I'll enjoy that are easy enough for beginners but not boring! If you have any suggestions, do please tell!
This is something I haven't talked about lately.
I haven't seriously been doing anything about my health, as some know I'm prediabetic. I haven't been monitoring my sugars and have gone a little overboard since I found out I am not full blown diabetic. I went back to sugary drinks which include DrPepper and Sweet Tea. Which now I'm regretting due to the fact my feet are feeling "weird", not tingly or completely numb but something isn't right. So now I'm cutting out my sugar drinks and watching my carbs a little more than I have been in the past year. I have also started exercising again. I have plans to make an appt with my doctor after we get through Christmas to do a physical and see where I'm at on all of my issues.
My weight has been going down a little over the past few months for a total of around 15lbs since the beginning of the year. Which is lower than pre Devlin weight but my body is so much different than it was after having Tally. The weight is carrying differently for sure. So my point of this post is just to be accountable for my health and weight, so I'm not doing this alone. I'm going to make a weight check in day soon, I'm thinking Friday mornings.
I'll keep you posted!
