The menu plan is a little messed up this week a few days will be whatever we can throw together. Tally and Devlin were both up and down all Friday night and Saturday morning Tally wouldn't stop crying that her ear hurt again. After an urgent care visit (diagnosed double ear infection) it was apparent that we weren't going to get to the state fair like planned, so no turkey leg and fair food for dinner. She is on antibiotics and feeling a little better, no fever so she's at school today.
- Roasted Chicken (Samsclub) and Red Potato Salad
- Brown Bag Burritos ( dinner plus more for Matts lunch this week)
- Stuffed Pizza Rolls
- Chicken pasta (Just ww pasta, Tomato Basil sauce, chicken breast, with some spinach and mushrooms thrown in)
- Baked Tomato Basil Fish (recipe later this week) no clue what sides possibly salad or spinach along with brown rice or ww couscous
- The rest is whatever...breakfast, sandwiches. whatever we can throw together out of the cabinets/fridge/freezer
You can find more menu plans at Orgjunkie
New goodies at Peppermint Creative! Few pages with the new Hocus Pocus halloween kit and the new freebie kit Momitude
What I'm Reading (haven't really started on any of them just yet)
The kids seem to be on the mend. Tally got a rash at school last week that I can only assume was an allergic reaction to something she got into. The doctor thought it was viral, possibly fifths disease but it was gone after 2 days so that pretty much ruled it out. She has sensitive skin just like I do so I can definitely see this being a reoccurring problem. Otherwise both kids have colds that just don't seem to be going away, again... possibly allergies.
Finished this one last week. It was a nice read, really loving Mia Kings books. I have one more that I'm waiting for at the library, her newest one "Table Manners".
I am almost done with "Swimsuit" by James Patterson. Pretty good so far but the killer is very disturbing. Not a good read for someone that is sensitive to that type of stuff.
I think that is all I have for now, I might be back tonight or tomorrow to start my menu plan posting again.
I haven't been reading as much as usual but I have read a few recently...
I really like the Women's Murder Club series and hate that the tv show only lasted a season. This one was as good as the others.
I also put holds on these that will hopefully be in my hands in the next few days because I am officially bookless!
Cinnamon Raisin Bread
(1lb loaf)
3/4 cup Water 80°F
4 tsp Oil
2 tsp Brown Sugar
1 tsp Salt
2 1/4 cup Bread Flour ( I use half bread and half whole wheat)
1 1/2 tsp active dry yeast or 1 tsp Instant/Bread Machine yeast
Layer the ingredients in that order into your bread machine and put on the dough cycle. When it's finished I roll it out in a rectangle the length of my pan and sprinkle it with as much cinnamon, brown sugar and raisins as you would like. Roll it up and pinch seams together, put seam side down in oil sprayed bread pan. Cover and let rise for 30-60 minutes. Put in a 350° oven for 30 minutes. Check after 20 and make sure it's not browning to much, if it is cover with foil for last 10 minutes.
Pretty simple!
Now onto some books I've read lately.
What I'm reading now...
Little post of how the week went.
Devlin had his evaluation for Sooner Start yesterday because of his not saying much. They test for Adaptive, Personal-Social, Communication, Motor and Cognitive. He has to be 50% behind in one area or 25% in 2 areas for them to help. He passed all but Communication which they put at 12m level, not surprising since he only says Mama, Dada, Night Night and Dog at 19 months. This program is free and they come to our house to work with him. The Speech Pathologist that gets assigned to us next week will go over how often we want his/her help (how often we want them to come by) and what we want Devlin to learn. For as long as we would like their help or until he is 3 yrs old. He has his hearing screening on Wed the 22nd to determine if he has any fluid in his ears that is causing him to not hear certain sounds. Will keep you posted on how it goes.
Few pictures from yesterday just for some cuteness...
Books I'm reading...
I finally started on Scarpetta which is 500 pg book and taking me a few days when I can fit it in, most likely will finish it tonight.
Then I have these on my nightstand.
and I have this one ready to pick up from being held at the library to finish the series.
I have to get groceries tonight and tomorrow Caramel (our Lhasa Apso) is getting a much needed grooming. It'll be like getting a new dog when he gets home, he'll look totally different.
I think that's all for today. I've been menu planning, just forget to post it on here at the beginning of the week. I'm going to work on keeping that up!
Saturday - Papa Murphy's at my parents again
Sunday - Chinese Take Out
Monday - Shredded Beef Tacos
Tuesday - Indonesian Crock Pot Chicken
Wednesday - Matt and the kids had pizza and he picked me up some lemon pepper wings at Wingstop
Thursday - Tonight will be breakfast night most likely
I'm thinking about starting a pizza night if I can figure out to make a healthy carb friendly crust that everyone will eat otherwise I'll just work on a really thin white crust or even do something seperate for me with my Flatout bread.
I'm off to finally get my shower before Devlin wakes up from his nap, then I need to make my grocery list, oh fun times.
Hope everyone has a great week!
Tally of course had it first, then Devlin (we think, his only lasted a day) and now me. I haven't been feeling well since Sunday. Lots of laying around sleeping or at least trying as much as you can with 2 kids jumping on your head, literally! ;) Today is the first day I can stand without being dizzy and nauseous after a few minutes. No menu plan this week since I took a few days off, I'm really not sure what I'm making. I just have to say how much I love my husband, he takes such good care of us especially when we are sick. All day Sunday he took care of all 3 of us without me even asking and yesterday he resumed as soon as he got home from work. Now of course he reminded me to do the same next time he isn't feeling well, I'm not always the nicest person after a long day with the kids and then to have a sick husband when all I want to do is rest after he gets home. ;)
I've been reading when I could keep my eyes open.
I finished
My FIL and MIL left The Shack with me.
I have 2 more at the library that I need to pick up soon.
Sitting here eating my breakfast while I wait for my mom to come by and pick us up for our weekly shopping day. Figured I'd post about what I'm reading right now and a scrapbook page I did about my diabetes. I'm doing at least one layout each month about me, I actually did this layout at the end of January, just took me a while to post it. lol
I just finished
I finally started Black Out, about a 3rd of the way into it.
Next one is a book I saw in a recent issue of ALL YOU magazine
I have 2 books ready to pick up at the library today and 1 in transit that I'll have Matt get on his way home this week sometime.
Read the first one of this series in the past few months.
Not sure why this is saying it's the 3rd, this is the first of this series.
The 3rd from the Bones series. Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!!
Haven't done a book post in a few weeks so I felt I was due. I'm not reading as fast as I was there for a while so I'm only going through about 3 books every few weeks.
I finished this one recently. Another great Tracey Bateman book and the end of the Drama Girls Series
I picked up her 3rd book but haven't started it yet
I also had to recheck out this one because it was missing a good 20 pages in the 3rd chapter, so starting this one again today.
On the health front. I'm still trying to get used to working out. I've worked out 3 times so far this week and if my kids will stop being crazy while I'm trying to work out I'd really appreciate it. lol I've found it really helps my numbers in the morning if I can get it done within an hour after breakfast. My afternoon and evening numbers are still decent.
I had my cholesterol checked at my last appt and finally got the results from that at the end of last week. It was NOT good! I'm not surrpised either since at that time I'd still been in the getting control stage. I'm not sure how fast cholesterol numbers go down but I'm hoping it's decent by my next appt. Cholesterol was 214 (wants under 200), Triglycerides were 228 (way high, but I think were due to my uncontrolled diabetes...needs to be between 50-150), LDL was 119 (wants under 100 due to the diabetes) My HDL was decent 49 (needs to be between 40-96) So I have some work to do with fat intake as well as carbs. Which is hard since I like eating nuts around this time of year. lol
I'm still drinking water for the most part with an occasional tea or no sugar added hot cocoa. I've bought some soy products from the advice of my doctor, light vanilla soy milk and roasted soynuts for the protein. She wants me getting 25g of soy protein per day. I also noticed on Biggest Loser last night they had talked about Fiber One original cereal with 14g of fiber per 1/2 cup, so I'm definitely going to try that and see how it does with my blood sugars in the morning. I need something that isn't going to spike it up like crazy. Weight loss wise I'm back down to what I was before my diabetes was controlled, it's going to be rough with me on meds to lose it like I want to but I'll get down this 35lbs by the end of the year! That is my goal for the year and I'm going to do what I must to get there!
Thanks for your support!!
My fasting this morning was 189, although it's not exactly were it's supposed to be at least it's not in the 200's! Keeping within my diet isn't really hard so far. I went to lunch with my mom yesterday at Johnny Carrino's and my number was 133 after eating. I tore off a few bites from the bread, had a salad with ranch on the side and the Lemon Chicken with red pepper green beans and a little bit of angel hair pasta. I was very careful and I'm not sure how many carbs I had with lunch but I think I did pretty well. Once my sugars are were they should be I'll up my carb count closer to the 2-3 carb choices per meal. For breakfast I've been staying between 1-2 since my numbers are so bad in the morning. Lunch I've been sticking close to 2 and dinner 2 also. Snacks I'm doing around 1 mid day and 1 before bed. The reccomended carb choice count per day is 10 and I think I'm sticking close to 7-8. I have 5 cookbooks coming in from amazon in the next few weeks that I'm hoping will spice up my cooking. I also called my doctor this morning and set up a fasting appt on Thurs, Jan 8th.
I haven't been reading as much lately with all of the holiday stuff going on and I probably won't be reading as much because I need to stay on a good sleeping/eating schedule and I usually read at night in bed which at times can put me getting to bed really really late. The meds I'm on right now are making me tired and plus I need to be up in the 8am range to check my blood sugars and eat. Both of those cut into my reading. lol But here is what I am reading at the moment.
Finally started reading the book I got from Rachel Hauck
and recently Lisa Unger requested to be my friend on Myspace and I've never heard of her so I got her first book Beautiful Lies
