I've been a busy little bee

I pulled out my sewing machine and after dusting it off (I should make a cover for it huh?!?) I started on camera strap cover and then on some coffee cozy's. Which is a great teachers gift with a Starbuck's (or favorite coffee house) giftcard.

I'm also testing a popcorn recipe to add to the cozys/giftcard plus for the people in the office at Tally's school.
It is in it's final stages of cooking and decorating so I'll try and post that either later tonight or over the next few days.

I have a few new scrapbook pages.

and last but not least I have a menu plan. Next month I am going to attempt a month of meal planning (planning not cooking) to try and make better use of ingredients.

Did I fall off the face of the earth again?

I don't mean disappear for weeks but I seen to be doing it anyway!
Things have been busy around here. We took a little trip last weekend to Texas for a surprise b-day party for my aunt. I also met up with my best friend Jeanne while down there and had tons of fun chasing after her 2 plus mine at a park filled with bees we kept running away from!

I made Tally a tutu for Halloween and am wondering if I can turn this into a little extra money. Opinions would be greatly appreciated here... How much would you spend on a tutu like this? What about one with a little bling or matching onesie/shirt for birthdays? Throwing ideas in my head...

Brandi Carlile "Give Up The Ghost" review

Give Up the Ghost
Give Up the Ghost
Brandi Carlile
I was lucky enough to get picked to review Brandi's new album recently and surprisingly I loved most it. Her music falls under many genres including pop, rock, alternative country, indie and folk. I've been playing it in my car for the past few weeks and I'm sure my husband is getting tired of hearing it. "Before it Breaks" and "That Year" are my top two favorites on the album. I think there are only 2 that I seem to skip to the next song on. This is definitely not my usual type of music but for the most part I like a good portion of the album and would recommend it because of it's wide genre. I'm sure you will like AT LEAST a few of the songs yourself if you give them a listen!

  1. Looking  Out
  2. Dying Day
  3. Pride and Joy
  4. Dreams
  5. That Year
  6. Caroline
  7. Before It Breaks
  8. I Will
  9. If There Was No You
  10. Touching the Ground
  11. Oh Dear

She will be appearing at Cain's Ballroom tomorrow night and I wish I could go see her. Date night tomorrow honey?!?

Menu Plan Oct 5th plus my reading list and a little scrap

  • Oct 5, 2009

The menu plan is a little messed up this week a few days will be whatever we can throw together. Tally and Devlin were both up and down all Friday night and Saturday morning Tally wouldn't stop crying that her ear hurt again. After an urgent care visit (diagnosed double ear infection) it was apparent that we weren't going to get to the state fair like planned, so no turkey leg and fair food for dinner. She is on antibiotics and feeling a little better, no fever so she's at school today.

I'm pretty sure that I'm back

Kids

The kids seem to be on the mend. Tally got a rash at school last week that I can only assume was an allergic reaction to something she got into. The doctor thought it was viral, possibly fifths disease but it was gone after 2 days so that pretty much ruled it out. She has sensitive skin just like I do so I can definitely see this being a reoccurring problem. Otherwise both kids have colds that just don't seem to be going away, again... possibly allergies.

Books
I've been reading when I can lately.
Finished this one last week. It was a nice read, really loving Mia Kings books. I have one more that I'm waiting for at the library, her newest one "Table Manners".

I am almost done with "Swimsuit" by James Patterson. Pretty good so far but the killer is very disturbing. Not a good read for someone that is sensitive to that type of stuff.

I also got picked to read Eileen Goudges new book "Once in a Blue Moon" from the One2OneNetwork, it arrived a few days ago and I can't wait to get started on it. I'll post a review closer to it's release date of October 5th. This is a writer I haven't read before and if I like it you'll see a few of her older books on here soon.

Scrapbooking
Unfortunately I have not even opened photoshop since I cleaned my computer and changed drives last week but I hope to get a page or two started today with a new kit Miss Mint is releasing soon.

I think that is all I have for now, I might be back tonight or tomorrow to start my menu plan posting again.

Dealing with sickies

  • Sep 14, 2009

We've been having an ongoing battle of sickies enter the house since Tally started school. Will be back to posting as soon as things have returned to normal, meaning that at least I'm feeling better ;)

A little bit of everything

  • Sep 2, 2009

I have a little bit of me time while Tally is at school and Devlin is napping. I'm slowly getting things organized around here and getting things to run a little smoother. Who knows when I'll actually get the whole house decluttered and organized but at least I'm working on it! I've also been taking my exercise seriously this week and I'm determined to make it a habit this month!!

Tally is loving school. They take afternoon naps before they come home and she's always been cranky when woke up from naps at home, apparently things have not changed just because she's in school. The teacher says she's fine all day until they wake her from her nap, we've picked her up teary eyed several days last week and once so far this week. I'm not to concerned about it since she's fine up until after the nap. The teacher will start sending behavior charts home on Friday and I'm hoping we never have any issues with this.

I have a few book sitting in front of me, none of which I've started reading. I wanted to show the books but vox books area doesn't seem to be working today so I'll just name them.
"The Pretend Wife" by Bridget Asher
"Breakfast at Stephanies" Sue Margolis
"Women of the edge of a Nervous Breakthrough" by Isabel Sharpe
"Death by Chick Lit" by Lynn Harris

Now for a little bit of scrappy goodness that is way over due to be posted.
First goodies from Gina Cabrera at Digital Design Essentials. Let 'Em Eat Cake Mega Kit on the first one and Wheels On The Bus Mega Kit for the second page!

And now a few Peppermint Creative goodies. Daditude Kit (which is free right now) and the Funky Free-The Whole Shebang

I think that's all I have to say at the moment. I plan to be back later tonight or tomorrow with a few recipes. Today is the hubbys birthday so most likely it will be tomorrow!
